2019 EFT Research Symposium Speakers and Presentations:

Dr. Peta Stapleton
Dr. Peta Stapleton: Peta is Associate Professor at Bond University, Queensland, Australia, as well as a trainer and practitioner. She is a world leader in researching EFT. Her presentation is titled: “A Pilot Investigation of Brain Changes in Overweight Adults with Food Cravings, after Emotional Freedom Techniques Treatment". This excellent presentation described her fMRI study on cravings which showed changes in the brain after EFT and her current cortisol study, a replication of Dawson Church’s previous study which showed huge reductions in cortisol levels after EFT. You will see those changes in the Powerpoint slides that accompany this presentation.

Dr. Mahima Kalla
Dr. Mahima Kalla: Mahima is a researcher, with a particular interest in the area of health sociology and integrative medicine. Her presentation is “How EFT may be using Memory Reconsolidation Mechanisms for Therapeutic Change in Neuropsychiatric Disorders such as PTSD and Phobia: A Proposed Model in progress”. This thought-provoking presentation described memory consolidation as a mechanism to explain how EFT works.

Dr. David Feinstein
Dr. David Feinstein: David is a clinical psychologist and a pioneer in developing innovative therapeutic approaches. David’s video presentation is “ Acupoint Tapping: What's the Evidence for Our Claims, and If it's That Powerful, How Does It Do It?" David’s fascinating presentation showed the latest research findings on what happens in the brain during EFT treatment for PTSD.

Dr. Shoshana Garfield
Dr. Shoshana Garfield: Shoshana has a PhD in psychology and numerous energy psychology modalities. Her presentation is called, “Nuts to Nice: Complex PTSD Recovery with Energy Psychology” – a personal account of her personal journey through CPTSD.

Dr. Liz Boath
Professor Liz Boath: Liz is Professor of Health and Wellbeing at Staffordshire University as well as an advanced practitioner and Trainer in EFT. Liz’s presentation is “Making the Case for EFT: How to Write and Publish EFT Case Studies” – how to write a case study for publication. She also speaks about how there is a paucity of case studies in EFT and why case studies are important. This is a must see presentation for anyone considering doing a case study in EFT.

Dr. Carl Stonier
Dr. Carl Stonier: Carl, is an EFT Advanced Practitioner and Trainer and on the EFTi ethics committee. Carl’s presentation is “Don’t Go Where You Don’t Belong” Carl spoke on the ethical issues in dealing with PTSD. It’s so important to know your limitations and know when it is better to refer on to someone more experienced. This presentation explains the reasons why you must take care in who you work with, especially at the start of your EFT career.

Pat Ballantyne
Pat Ballantyne: Pat is chairperson of the EFT International Research Team. She holds a BPsych and is an Advanced Practitioner in EFT. She works full time in the NHS with clients who are mostly referred by doctors and other medical professionals. She primarily works with clients who present with issues relating to anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, panic, phobias, anger, chronic pain, obsessive compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, and chronic fatigue (ME).

Dr. Phil Mollon
Dr. Phil Mollon: Phil is a psychoanalyst, clinical psychologist and energy psychotherapist. The title of his presentation is “Transforming PTSD: A Deeper Look at Memory Reconsolidation” Phil’s intriguing presentation considers an explanation of how EFT works. He shows that an explanation for how EFT works is way ahead of other therapies in explaining how it works.
