At this time of year we are all encouraged to make resolutions or set goals for the months to come. My own resolution starts and ends with using tapping more often, and intentionally picking up on times when I could have applied EFT, but carried on regardless.
I’m doing my best to be more aware of what’s going on around me, how I’m responding and when I can tap on circumstances and the emotions they bring up.
At the beginning of the year, I had to have a wisdom tooth refilled which presented me with an opportunity to put my intentions to the test by tapping for anxiety in the moment.
How To Apply EFT for Anxiety in the Moment
Whilst walking to my appointment I began finger tapping on how I was feeling. A little apprehensive and small butterflies in the pit of my stomach. My tapping continued. Then I imagined myself getting out of the chair, everything having gone smoothly and all apprehension gone.
Entering the building I tapped on how calm and quiet it was and how this would contribute to my experience. Whilst my oral professional welcomed me and chatted about her holidays and New Year, I continued to finger tap around how very convivial this was and how it was setting me at ease.
Things were going well and I was feeling calm, when she said ‘you’re not going to need anaesthetic, we can proceed without it’. My tapping increased and quickened - picking up on not only my alarm, but relief as well.
I did not stop tapping until the whole process was over. Waves of emotion including fear were tapped away until I finally got up out of the chair.
Finger tapping is such a smooth and easy process, my own responses shifted significantly with my constant tapping. My feelings were addressed as they ebbed and flowed throughout. I left happy and hardly noticed that I had a new filling.
As the days and months progress, I shall be applying finger tapping whenever and wherever I can. I'd encourage you to try the same and see what benefits you gain as the year unfolds.
