Barb Dyment

Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner
In May, 2024, I experienced a medical emergency that deepened my appreciation for EFT on a personal level. I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and spent a week in the ICU, followed by another week in recovery, after being diagnosed with two large blood clots affecting both lungs. My breathing was nearly fully blocked, the right side of my heart had become enlarged, and extensive testing began to uncover the cause, though the source of the clots was never found.
Throughout this experience, I relied on EFT, which I’ve been practicing since 2005 (Certified in 2021). Tapping helped me stay calm and centered in the midst of intense medical interventions. In fact, my doctor initially planned to delay a critical procedure for a few days due to concerns about the stress I had just endured. After his observations later in the day, he said, “You are so calm that we’re going to try the procedure tomorrow.” They did it the following afternoon with no issues.
I truly believe that EFT helped regulate my nervous system and supported my body’s natural healing process. By the end of July, follow-up tests showed my lungs had fully healed. By November, my heart had returned to normal size and function.
This experience reinforced my trust in EFT as a powerful tool not just for emotional balance, but also for physical healing.
Now I specialize in working with individuals experiencing chronic pain or tension, ease stress about upcoming procedures and surgeries, and a serious illness diagnosis.
Also, through my previous work with adult clients, I began to notice a recurring pattern: many of the stresses, fears, and limiting beliefs they were carrying had originated during their school years. These early experiences were still impacting their careers, relationships, and overall well being. On a personal level, I was able to release a long-held belief that I wasn’t smart enough, which stemmed from a comment written on my Grade 1 report card. I also used EFT to calm public speaking anxiety rooted in a high school experience.
This fueled my passion for working with post-secondary students. My goal is to help them increase their confidence, emotional resilience, and overall well-being so they can reach their full academic potential with greater ease and self-confidence.
Here are some areas where working together with EFT has helped my clients:
- Fears around upcoming medical procedures, surgeries
- Alleviate chronic pain
- Reduce allergic reactions
- Address compulsive behaviors, such as trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder)
- Grief
- Build self-confidence and self-esteem
- Reduce feelings of overwhelm and the stress of living independently for the first time
- Ease the fear of not being good enough or of being judged
- Improve performance and reduce anxiety related to sports and team tryouts
- Manage stress related to tests, exams, presentations/public events, and interviews
In addition to students, I’ve also worked with teachers, educational assistants, school bus drivers, and parents; all of whom agree that students could greatly benefit from access to EFT.
