Christina Buxton

I am a chartered academic psychologist and psychotherapist specialising in the area of psychological trauma.I am programme lead at a UK university for a Professional Doctorate programme that offers training and education for practitioners who are working in the wider field of psychological trauma and counselling and psychotherapy. I am a fellow of the British Psychological Society, and additionally I am a registered psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a member of EMDR UK & Ireland, a Chartered Scientist and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. My early research examined the supports needed by armed police officers in the UK who were likely to suffer from traumatic reactions due to the nature of their work. I have retained an interest in those who work with trauma and am currently undertaking research into the wider context in which trauma and PTSD sits. My clinical work has been primarily community based with a focus on trauma and PTSD. I am trained in EMDR, trauma focused CBT and am an integrative therapeutic practitioner. I additionally undertake trauma informed organisational consultancy and supervision.
