David Christopher Young

Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner
I’m an EFT International Accredited Practitioner, working with adults and young people both online and in person. I’m also an accredited psychotherapist and experienced trauma therapist working with adults and children.
My approach to therapy is hybrid. I integrate EFT with psychodynamic psychotherapy and DDP, as well as IFS and EMDR and narrative approaches. I also use audio recordings and therapeutic prompts where they feel helpful, so the work can carry on between sessions rather than everything having to happen in the therapy hour. I work well with people when things feel messy, when overwhelm and burn-out are fast approaching and nervous systems are a little frayed around the edges. I work with a lot of neurodivergent people too.
How we use EFT depends on you and what you bring. We might tap with something happening right now, a feeling, body sensation, anxiety, anger or work carefully with a particular story, memory or traumatic experience. We might use tapping with cravings and compulsive behaviours, or the moments when you know what would help but find yourself doing the exact opposite anyway.
Sometimes EFT is simply about helping an overloaded system settle and getting back to baseline. At other times, we go deeper, combining EFT with narrative or psychotherapy to explore survival strategies and patterns that may have been around for much longer.
I’ve used EFT individually, with professional and recovery groups, in workshops and occasionally out in nature. Therapy with me can be thoughtful and serious, but it can also be lively, experimental and sometimes funny. I offer online sessions across the UK and internationally, alongside face-to-face work from my practice in Newcastle.
