Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner
I'm a Youth Mentor for Stress Relief. I specialise in working with teenagers, university students, and young adults who're stuck in stress and overwhelm. One of my areas of expertise is in helping students overcome test and exam-related stress. I love incorporating EFT into my youth mentoring work because of how gentle and effective it is as a tool for processing a build-up of stress.
I know what it's like to suffer from school-related stress, particularly exam and test-related stress, and how important it is to have a nurturing, supportive professional by your side who can help you learn more effective emotional self-care and study skills.
I'm a classroom teacher turned youth mentor and workshop leader. I now split my time between teaching de-stressing techniques to groups of parents, teachers and students, and my private one-to-one online youth mentoring practice via Skype or Zoom. I also have some parents and teachers who come to me wanting to tap on whatever's causing them stress, privately, because they like my results-oriented approach. Many parents I work with want to stop passing on their own stress to their child so that they can have a better connection with their child. I believe that if we care about student wellbeing, it makes sense to also care for the wellbeing of those who care for them.
The 4 main stress-related problems people come to me to work on are:
1) Academic stress (procrastinating, falling behind on big assignments, test/exam/class presentation performance anxiety).
2) Stress or indecision over what to do with your life (what university course to choose, whether to apply for a Masters/Ph.D. or go get a job, whether to take a gap year, whether to change course/university/degree after the first few months of starting uni).
3) Stress caused by bad sleeping habits (often linked to bad smartphone/social media habits).
4) Relational stress (parent-child conflict, teacher-student conflict, or workplace bullying/conflict).
