Tor’s Tapping Therapy

Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner
I am a Certified Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Practitioner and mother of two young children. I am passionate about equipping people with the tools that they need to release stress and anxiety. I am honoured to give them a safe space to explore what can be challenging emotions.
Since leaving school, I have been fascinated by the world of Mental Health. At 18 I was part of the Nurse Bureau Bank staff at St Andrews Psychiatric Hospital. I was working on geriatric locked wards where patients were suffering from schizophrenia, Huntington’s Disease and complex dementia. Still to this day it has been the most satisfying full time work I have ever had. It really opened my eyes to how mental trauma and complexities can hinder your quality of life.
I wanted to learn more so I did I part time counselling course at Birkbeck University which I loved. During this time, a friend committed suicide in 2009. Soon after this tragic event, I became a Samaritan at the Piccadilly branch. I wanted to do my bit to try and support those going though such low and desperate times in their lives.
I was determined to continue my studies and was offered a place at Birkbeck University to do a Masters in Counselling in Psychotherapy, however my husband proposed and before I knew it, we were married. We were posted to Pakistan and both worked at the High Commission in Islamabad. We had the most spectacular time. After 2.5 wonderful years we moved to Kenya and Somalia where I worked on a Counter Terrorism Programme, it was challenging but I embraced the opportunity to work in Nairobi and Mogadishu.
After nearly 5 years away from the UK we were ready to come home and we loved being back in Lingfield, Surrey. During this time, we had our first baby and we’re then posted to Thailand where we had our second baby. It was a strange time being there during COVID as we couldn’t come home for over 18 months due to the tight travel restrictions but we made the most of the beaches - that’s for sure!
My husband’s work has taken us on some wild adventures which I wouldn’t change for anything. However, after 10 years of Diplomatic life my passion to support people struggling with anxiety and stress remained firmly entrenched in my heart. I wanted to find something that would fulfil my calling to support people which is when I found Emotional Freedom Technique. Changes to learning owing to COVID meant that I was able to qualify online (though tricky at times with the 7 hour time difference!). I am really proud to qualify and I am delighted to have set up my own business which is ‘Tor’s Tapping Therapy’ which enables me to support those with general feelings of being overwhelmed, or of dealing with anxiety, stress or to help ease people’s physical pain as well.
Emotional Freedom Technique is often described as acupuncture without needles. I am a great advocate for acupuncture and EFT is the marriage of tapping on acupressure points and using talking therapies to iron out disruptions we face in our lives.
I offer a confidential safe space either in person or online.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
