Preliminary Support for Emotional Freedom Techniques as a Support for Cancer Patients

The article explores the potential benefits of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) as a psychological intervention for cancer patients to address their emotional and psychological well-being. A pilot study found that group EFT sessions significantly reduced anxiety and showed promising trends in improving quality of life, happiness, and PTSD symptoms, alongside reduced cortisol levels. While preliminary, the research highlights EFT's potential as a complementary therapy for enhancing the emotional health of cancer patients.

How Do Energy Psychology Modalities Work? An Energy-Based Theoretical Perspective

Energy Psychology (EP) methods, which harness human energy for therapeutic purposes, lack a fully satisfactory explanation despite their rich evidence base. While biological models have advanced understanding, they fail to address all EP effects, particularly the role of acupoint stimulation. This paper introduces an energy-based perspective, grounded in Tiller’s multidimensional model, aiming to enhance theoretical frameworks and offer a more comprehensive understanding of EP mechanisms, especially regarding acupoint stimulation's function.

Six Empirically-Supported Premises About Energy Psychology: Mounting Evidence for a Controversial Therapy

This review of 245 peer-reviewed studies on energy psychology, focusing on acupoint tapping protocols, identifies six evidence-based premises: effectiveness in treating various conditions, rapid results, durability of benefits, biological changes supporting subjective improvements, their crucial role in clinical effects, and their ability to modulate brain arousal. A hypothesis suggests that tapping effectively revises maladaptive mental models by creating emotionally intense experiences that contradict outdated expectations, facilitating neural reconsolidation and psychological change.

Energy Psychology in the Treatment of Substance Use Disorder

Energy psychology, which combines acupuncture point stimulation with cognitive interventions, has demonstrated exceptional speed, impact, and durability in treating various conditions. This chapter discusses its application in addiction recovery, offering targeted strategies for each stage of recovery while explaining how it supports psychological change by influencing brain areas involved in emotional and cognitive processes. Clinical trials and imaging studies highlight its effectiveness as a valuable tool for substance abuse counselling.

Applications of Energy Psychology in Addressing the Psychological Roots of Illness

Energy psychology integrates mind-body approaches, like tapping on acupuncture points combined with psychological techniques, to promote health and healing. It addresses neurological underpinnings of mental states that hinder immune function, emotional factors that exacerbate illness, and inner resources for recovery. Preliminary evidence suggests this method can regulate hyperactive limbic system areas and activate prefrontal cortex regions that support stress management, offering valuable support alongside medical treatments.

Emotional Freedom Technique to Prevent Preeclampsia: Literature Review

This study examines the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Spiritual Emotional Freedom Techniques (SEFT) in reducing cortisol levels to prevent preeclampsia in pregnant women. Elevated cortisol levels, triggered by stress, contribute to increased blood pressure, blood circulation issues, and heart rate. Findings suggest that both EFT and SEFT effectively lower cortisol levels, helping to manage blood pressure and reduce complications in preeclamptic mothers.

Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique against Anxiety and Psychological Well-being of Type 2 DM Patients during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The study analysed the effect of the spiritual emotional freedom technique (SEFT) on anxiety and psychological well-being in patients with type 2 diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic. SEFT significantly reduced anxiety levels and improved psychological well-being in the intervention group, while no notable changes were observed in the control group. These findings suggest SEFT is an effective method for supporting the mental health of patients with type 2 diabetes during challenging times.

Effectiveness of EFT on Suicidal Ideation Among Young Adults

This study explores the effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) in addressing suicidal ideation among young adults aged 18 to 40. Following 21 days of daily EFT practice, participants experienced reduced suicidal ideation, improved self-awareness, enhanced self-love, and greater emotional regulation. The findings suggest EFT is a cost-effective and accessible intervention for managing distress and suicidal thoughts.

Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) Improved Autonomic Nervous Activity in Primipara

This study found that SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique) significantly improved autonomic nervous system balance in primiparous women by lowering the LF/HF ratio, which reflects heart rate variability. While promising, further research is recommended to validate its use for pregnant women with anxiety.
