Do Noncoding RNAs Mediate the Efficacy of Energy Psychology?

This experimental study provides preliminary evidence that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) may influence microRNA expression, potentially linking psychological interventions to molecular-level changes. Although statistical significance was not achieved after adjusting for multiple comparisons, the downregulation of let-7b and let-7c microRNAs—which have been associated with neuroplasticity and emotional regulation—suggests a possible biological mechanism underlying EFT's effects. These findings support further investigation into the role of noncoding RNAs in mediating therapeutic outcomes, particularly in the treatment of PTSD and other stress-related conditions.

Epigenetic Effects of PTSD Remediation in Veterans Using Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study

Study results identify candidate gene expression correlates of successful PTSD treatment, providing guidelines for the design of further studies aimed at exploring the epigenetic effects of EFT...

Differential Gene Expression after Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Treatment: A Novel Pilot Protocol for Salivary mRNA Assessment

Biopsychology is a rapidly expanding field of study since the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. There is little data measuring the effect of psychotherapeutic interventions on gene expression, due to the technical, logistical, and financial requirements of analysis.

Epigenetic Effects of PTSD Remediation in Veterans Using Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques): A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study

This study examines the epigenetic effects of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) in veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), assessing changes in gene expression linked to PTSD symptoms. Findings indicate that EFT significantly reduced PTSD symptoms and influenced the expression of six genes, suggesting potential biological mechanisms underlying EFT’s therapeutic impact.

Your DNA is Not Your Destiny: Behavioral Epigenetics and the Role of Emotions in Health

Our genes can be affected by our behaviors and emotions, which can either help or harm our health. Stress can actually make our cells age faster, making us biologically older than our actual age. New research suggests that certain techniques like meditation and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) might be able to reverse some of this damage and even have anti-aging benefits.
