Emotional Freedom Techniques in the Treatment of Unhealthy Eating Behaviors and Related Psychological Constructs in Adolescents: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Trial

Food For Thought: A Randomised Controlled Trial of Emotional Freedom Techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the Treatment of Food Cravings

This study compared Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for reducing food cravings in 83 adults who were overweight or obese, finding both interventions to be comparably effective. Both EFT and CBT produced clinically meaningful treatment effects, reducing food cravings and improving eating habits, although neither led to significant weight loss.

The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Freedom Techniques in Reducing Depression and Anxiety Among Adults: A Pilot Study

This pilot study compared Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) for treating depression and anxiety, finding that both approaches reduced depressive symptoms but with different timelines: CBT showed immediate improvement that wasn't sustained, while EFT had a delayed effect that became significant at follow-up. The study suggests that EFT may be a promising treatment strategy worth further investigation.

A Randomized Clinical Trial of a Meridian-Based Intervention for Food Cravings with Six-Month Follow-Up

This randomized clinical trial involved 96 adults and found that Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) significantly reduced food cravings and improved restraint capabilities compared to a waitlist group. The benefits of EFT were maintained at 6-month follow-up, with a delayed effect on craving restraint. While both groups showed reduced psychological distress, the between-group difference was not significant.
