2023 EFT International Scientific Symposium Speakers and Presentations:
Dr. Peta Stapleton

Dr. Peta Stapleton
Meet Dr. Peta Stapleton: Peta has 25 years experience as a registered Clinical and Health Psychologist and is currently an Associate Professor in Psychology at Bond University in Queensland, Australia. In 2019 she was named Psychologist of the Year by the Australian Allied Health Awards. She is a world leading researcher in EFT and has established herself as one of Australia’s leading Health Professionals. Her research focuses on the 4th wave of psychological therapies that focus on the mind and body.
About the presentation: This presentation will outline the published EFT research on issues that present in cancer patients. This will include and not be limited to: pain management, anxiety and stress, fear of surgery, the trauma of the diagnosis, and more. An overview of the EFT for cancer trial conducted in 2020 in Australia will also be presented.

Dr. Mahima Kalla
Dr. Mahima Kalla
Meet Dr. Mahima Kalla: Mahima is a researcher at Melbourne University, with a particular interest in the area of health sociology and integrative medicine. In her Ph.D., she explored the use of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) for supporting physical chronic disease healthcare.
About the presentation: Mahima developed a model for using EFT for long term conditions. This very practical model is relevant to cancer patients. She will present on the model and the different ways in which EFT can be adapted to help cancer patients.
Dr. Philip R Debruyne (Keynote Speaker)

Dr. Philip R Debruyne
Meet Dr. Philip R Debruyne MD, PhD, MSc, FRCP(Glasg), FCP: Philip is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Pharmacologist at the OECI-designated Clinical Cancer Centre of Az Groeninge (hospital) in Kortrijk (Belgium).
He is interested in early clinical trials and the management of vulnerable patients such as older and head and neck cancer patients.
About the presentation: In this presentation Philip will present the findings from the 2021 paper: ”A randomised wait-list controlled trial to evaluate Emotional Freedom Techniques for self-reported cancer-related cognitive impairment in cancer survivors” which was published in the Lancet. This paper supports the use of EFT for cancer-related cognitive impairment and suggests that EFT may be efficacious for other symptoms in cancer survivors.

Dr. Seamus Coyle
Dr. Seamus Coyle
Meet Dr Seamus Coyle: Seamus is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre at the University of Liverpool. His main research area is the Biology of dying and the development of a urine test to predict dying (recently patented). He is also interested in non-pharmacological ways of controlling pain and other symptoms.
About the presentation: Seamus has written a leaflet about using EFT in Palliative care, called simply, EFT: A Simple Guide in Palliative and Hospice Care. This leaflet reports some case studies on his use of EFT with his patients. He will present on his experiences of using EFT in his work.
Dr. Mona Meyer

Dr. Mona Meyer
Meet Dr. Mona Meyer, Ph.D.: Mona is a cell- and molecular biologist by training and researched cancer for over a decade both in Germany and Canada. In 2016, she became an integrative cancer coach blending counselling, EFT and Eden Energy Medicine to support and empower people diagnosed and living with cancer
About the presentation: In this presentation research data will be shown that suggest a role of the nervous system in cancer growth and progression and explain why EFT is more than just a tool to cope with cancer. We will also learn how the Arcadia clinic integrates energy psychology and energy medicine in the treatment regimen of all stages of cancer, illustrating a pioneer model of holistic cancer care.

Dr. Rosy Daniel
Dr. Rosy Daniel
Meet Dr. Rosy Daniel: Rosy is an Integrative Health Consultant. She has applied the Mind-Body model of health and wellbeing throughout her 35 year career as an Integrative Medicine Consultant specialising with those with cancer and serious illness. She offers holistic health consultations to help people to promote their health, well-being, coping skills and quality of life through effective self-help programmes.
About the Presentation: Rosy will give a brief overview of the mind-body approach to cancer and then explain how she sees EFT contributing as a very important part of an holistic cancer support programme, illustrated with case studies.
Koen van Reeth

Koen van Reeth
Meet Koen van Reeth: Originally a physiotherapist, Koen explored several practices to help people with their difficulties, until in 2004 when he found EFT. He started to train others in EFT and set up The EFT Academy in Flanders in 2010.
About the presentation After the Debruyne study was published, Koen and his associates trained 16 onco-psychologists and nurses to work in six hospitals in Flanders. They went on to create a network of who can refer to EFT-practitioners if it is needed outside the hospital. His talk focuses on this process. He will also show how EFT can be used in every emotional phase before and after a cancer diagnosis. The title of Koen's presentation is: Setting-up an EFT-network around Hospitals in Belgium and how we can use EFT in every emotional phase before and after a cancer diagnosis.

Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts
Meet Emma Roberts: Emma Roberts is an EFT Master and Master Trainer, Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner. Whilst she works with any problem state, Emma specialises in working with fertility, cancer and the highly sensitive areas of trauma and sexual abuse.
About the Presentation: Emma is the author of “Even Though I Have Cancer…” – a self help book to support those dealing with any form of chronic illness, as well as a reference for practitioners looking to be involved in this field. In her pre-recorded interview, Emma shares some of her experiences working with issues around cancer and offers some case studies.

Pat Ballantyne
Pat Ballantyne, Research Team Chair (Symposium Co-Host)
Pat Ballantyne is Chairperson of the EFT International Research Team. She holds a BPsych degree and is an Advanced Practitioner in EFT. She works full time in the NHS (UK National Health Service).

Sonia Munafo
Sonia Munafo (Symposium Co-Host)
Sonia Munafo is a volunteer on the EFTi Research Team. In addition to being an Accredited Certified Advanced EFT Practitioner, she is a pilates, yoga and Somatic Movement Coach, Systematic Kinesiologist and ART Practitioner with experience in Sports Massage, Trigger points and Myo-Fascial release.
