Effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Techniques in Alleviating Symptoms Associated with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Summary: A meta-analysis of 13 studies involving 621 patients found that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) was effective in reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. The analysis showed significant improvements in PTSD symptoms, anxiety, and depression scores compared to baseline, with effects sustained for up to three months.

EFT was particularly effective in treating PTSD symptoms in veterans, a subgroup that showed significant reductions in symptoms. Overall, the study suggests that EFT may be a useful non-pharmacological treatment for PTSD and comorbid symptoms, with potential applications in various populations, including veterans.
