Emotional Freedom Techniques for Food Cravings in Overweight Adults: A Comparison of Treatment Length

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of 4-week and 8-week Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) programs for reducing food cravings and weight in overweight adults. Both programs resulted in significant reductions in food cravings, subjective power of food, dietary restraint, BMI, and weight, with no significant differences between the two groups. The 8-week program showed better maintenance of effects for food cravings and restraint ability at 6- and 12-month follow-ups. The 4-week program resulted in greater weight loss (8 kg over 12 months) compared to the 8-week program (5 kg over 12 months). Overall, the study suggests that both program lengths can be effective, but longer programs may be beneficial for maintaining certain outcomes.
