If I could have a superpower, it would be the ability to help someone I love through their most difficult moment, to remind them of their inner strength.
Since discovering EFT Tapping, I have realised we already have that gift within us, and Surrogate Tapping has shown me how powerful it can be.
I often use it with my young daughter. As a mother, the bond I feel with her is deep, and sometimes when she is anxious or overwhelmed, she is not able to tap on herself. In those moments, I tap on my own points on her behalf. I don’t take away her experience, I simply connect with her and hold space for her healing.
Always tap on your own emotions before tapping for others
The most important step is to start with myself. If I feel worried or fearful for her, I first clear those feelings through tapping. Once I’m calm, I can step into her shoes and connect with her situation from a place of love and trust.
Surrogate Tapping is not just for humanity
Surrogate EFT can be used for anyone who is not able to tap: babies, children, elderly relatives, people who are ill, in pain, or too distressed. It can even extend to pets and plants, since our love and connection is not limited to humans.
What I like the most about surrogate work is that it isn’t about fixing someone else, it is about compassion, presence, and remembering our oneness with those we care for.
For me, tapping for my daughter is a reminder that none of us have to heal alone.
And if you’re curious enough to want to explore this further, working with an EFT practitioner, or learning more about surrogate tapping for yourself, can be a beautiful way to experience its depth and share this “superpower” with others.
