Emotional Freedom Techniques for Elderly Patients with COVID-19: A Case Series on Clinical Recovery, Frailty, and Inflammatory Biomarkers

Summary: The study involved five elderly patients with confirmed COVID-19 who received daily EFT sessions combining acupressure, affirmations and exposure techniques, in addition to standard care. After a 30-day follow-up, patients showed substantial improvements in clinical symptoms, frailty status and systemic inflammation, with an average reduction of 85% in IL-6 levels.

Patients also demonstrated enhanced emotional well-being and adherence to EFT through digital guidance. The findings suggest EFT may be a useful adjunct therapy in elderly COVID-19 patients, warranting further controlled trials to evaluate its broader applicability in geriatric care.
